Hello, I am Shawn Lim.

I am 41yo, married for close to 10 years, with a 4yo boy.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been into the alternative, underground art, music, design culture.




Wanted to go TP DES for VSC—denied by my dad.
Told to go EEEngineering for a “better future”.
Got a useless Diploma in EEEngineering after 3 years.

Never felt so LOST.




I said fuck it. Learned all design softwares by myself through YouTube. Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Cinema4D, you name it.

Applied to NTU ADM on my own. Got in. Yay.
Did alot of exhibitions and collaborations with local designers.



Got my first design client for $800—my cohort mate.
Then, got my second design client for $1200—my professor.
Got an equally useless Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication after 4 years.

Went to work at a few places including Asylum, Ogilvy, and Hogarth (now known as WPPP). Realised I actually have control over money.


Started my own studio. Ran it for 11 years.
Worked on >100 projects with >70 clients.


Sold my shares to my partners.

Decided I want more challenge. Came to TP to teach.
Told my dad it came a full circle—that I found my way back to TP DES.
